The Saint-Julien rock, an outcrop engraved with cupules, is characteristic of the remarkable and outstanding sites in this ensemble of monuments. The rock in question lies at the edge of a small beach, and is engraved with over forty cupules spread across the rocky outcrop and detached blocks.
Intrigued by the engravings, clearly the work of human hands, Zacharie Le Rouzic requested that the site be listed as a historic monument in 1929, arguing that it was “very important from an archaeological and geological point of view. It must be preserved.” Since then, extensive erosion by the sea has resulted in some fragments becoming detached.
